The first computer I owned was a model built by the Radio Shack company, a tiny piece of machinery developed back in the 1960s. I was charmed by it—it was a console-sized machine that could only play the sound of a buzzing electronic tone, but that tone was loud enough to wake up the dead. A few years later, that machine was replaced by a much larger one that actually worked—and that was when my love affair with computers began in earnest.

When you buy a $300 Chromebook, you expect it to handle all of your web needs. And that’s why, when it comes to Google’s Chrome OS, you’re mostly getting what you pay for—a great browser, but an average OS. But what if you could get more for your money? CloudReady is a new software project Google has developed to turn your Chromebook into the perfect web OS.

It’s been a while since I last posted on this blog, for a variety of reasons, but today I am back. And, of course, I have a few new things to say.

Random web browser errors are quite frequent, as irritating as they are. Frequently, you’ll be surfing without incident until you’re suddenly smacked in the face with a random mistake.

In this post, we’ll look at the “this page cannot be shown” issue and provide a few solutions that you may attempt.

If you’re using Internet Explorer’s secured mode, turning it off may help you fix the problem.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer and go to the top-right settings button, then to Internet Options.

Step 2: Click the Security tab and uncheck the Enable Protected Mode option.

Restart Internet Explorer to check whether the issue has been resolved.

Resetting your browser’s settings is sometimes the best approach to solve problems like these.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer and go to the top-right settings button, then to Internet Options.

Step 2: Select the Advanced tab and then Reset.

Step 3: Select Delete personal settings from the drop-down menu and click Reset.

Restart your computer, and your browser should work normally again.

Browsers may also fail as a result of hardcoded IP or DNS settings, preventing them from accessing the internet at all. Here’s how to have them fixed.

Step 1: To access the Windows settings, press Windows key + I.

Step 2: Click on Network & Internet.

Step 3: Select Change adapter choices from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Right-click on your Wi-Fi network and choose Properties from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: In the list, locate Internet Protocol Version 4, click it, and then choose Properties.

Step 6: Double-check that all of your settings are set to automatic.

Now restart your browser, and everything should be good.

The Windows Firewall may sometimes get in the way of applications attempting to connect to the internet, which might be the situation here. Disable your firewall for a while to check whether Internet Explorer works correctly again.

You may find a step-by-step tutorial to disabling the Windows Firewall here.

Improper date and time settings may also cause authentication problems in the browser, resulting in this error. Here’s how to check whether your date and time settings are correct.

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and choose Settings.

Step 2: Select Time & Language from the available options.

Step 3: To have Windows calculate your time automatically, click the toggle button next to Set time automatically.

Step 4: To choose your time zone, click the toggle button underneath the Set time zone automatically option, similar to how you would in Windows.

Now go ahead and use the browser once again.
